This is a courtesy translation. Only the German version is legally binding.

2. The key points in brief

This site uses no cookies, no tracking and no analytics tools. No third-party services are embedded: fonts, 3D models, images and scripts are loaded exclusively from my own server. The only thing stored in your browser is your chosen language (in local storage), so the site is shown in that language on your next visit; it is not transmitted to me.

The only data processed is what is technically required to deliver the site (server log files, section 3) and any data you send me yourself by email (section 5).

3. Hosting and server log files

This site runs on a virtual server (vServer) at netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Straße 10, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with netcup.

When you visit the site, your browser automatically transmits information that is stored in server log files:

• IP address
• Date and time of access
• Requested file or address and amount of data transferred
• HTTP status code
• Referrer (the previously visited page, if transmitted)
• Browser type, operating system (user agent)

This data is needed to provide the site technically, to ensure its stability and security and to fend off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; my legitimate interest lies in operating the site securely and without errors. The log files are deleted after 3 months at the latest, unless they are needed longer to investigate a specific security incident. They are not combined with other data sources.

4. Encryption

For security reasons, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” in your browser’s address bar.

5. Contact by email

If you send me an email, I process your details (email address, name if given, content of the message) in order to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed to handle your enquiry and no statutory retention obligations apply.

6. Interactive elements

The terminal on the laptop, the books and the 3D scene run entirely in your browser. Input in the terminal is neither transmitted to me nor stored. The “ping” command only sends small test requests to this server to measure the response time; this creates the log file entries described in section 3.

7. Links to other websites

This site contains links to my projects and to other websites. They are only accessed when you click a link or open it in the terminal. The respective operator is responsible for processing your data on those sites; their privacy notices apply.

8. Your rights

You have the right at any time to

• information about the data I have stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
• rectification of incorrect data (Art. 16 GDPR),
• erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
• data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
• object to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR).
